FOUNDER & FITNESS COACH

ED KERRY

I’m Ed Kerry, owner and founder of GL52 fitness, a new and innovative gym based in Bishops Cleeve. GL52 was created out of my passion for fitness and ability to create a sense of community. I believe GL52 will make training accessible to all. People lead incredibly stressful lives and are predominantly time-poor. With this in mind, I wanted to create a positive space that provides excellent training for all fitness levels.

Something you may not know about me is that I am in fact an endurance athlete. I have completed the 2015 Marathon Des Sables coming 21st overall out of 1500 and the 2nd Brit to finish. The races don’t stop there, I have competed in numerous different endurance events.

I’m a highly qualified personal trainer with a huge drive to create the best gym in Gloucestershire. Opening GL52 is a new challenge and one which I’m extremely passionate about. The gym will be a welcoming, family-friendly environment with a variety of membership options and classes. With a child of my own, I know the importance of being able to bring your children to the gym so you can have some time to yourself knowing they’re safe, happy and healthy.

JACK DUNCAN

Hi, my name is Jack and I’m a coach here at GL52.

Joining the marines at 16, being fit and healthy has always been an important part of my life. During this time I would also regularly take part in a variety of sports including football, MMA and CrossFit.

In 2016 I moved to Australia, this is when I gained my PT qualifications and have been working as a coach and class instructor since 2019. In that time I have had the privilege of working with some amazing clients, witnessing these people succeed in reaching their goals is a genuine passion of mine.

My main focus will always be technique and drilling good movement patterns ensuring an enjoyable training experience as well as prolonging good health for later on in life.

I really enjoy seeing people change for the better and having a good time in the process, for me that makes coaching fun!

Hi, my name is Liam. I am a trainer here at GL52 Fitness. I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life and, regardless of age, ability or goal, the good fortune of making a positive impact on their health and fitness journeys.

Along the way, I’ve learnt that one thing underpins every success story – tenacity. So no matter your goal, big or small, near or distant, I’m excited to help you enjoy the process and make positive changes for life.

FIRST, WE UNDERSTAND YOU

Whether your goal is to lose weight, improve strength or learn a new skill, we are here to fully embrace that goal too and assist you in achieving this and much more. We will ensure that you are teamed with one of our knowledgeable coaches who is best suited to helping you attain the results and targets that we have set out together.

THEN, THE FUN BEGINS

Now for the best part: training. Your coach will consistently motivate and encourage you to get the best out of each session, holding you accountable to achieve your goals, whilst also ensuring that the journey is enjoyable. They’ll make sure to periodically increase the intensity of your training to ensure you never reach a plateau and are always making progress. We understand that progression is not always linear and situations change, so this process is in constant review if your goals change or life throws something unexpected at you.

What does GL52’s personal training include?

Having over 15,000 hours of experience, Ed has realised the 60 minute trainer is the biggest waste of your time and investment. His approach to coaching is to give a full wrap around approach making it a seven day trainer offering. This gives accountability to both you and the coach which will ensure success and a longevity that you will not find anywhere else in Gloucestershire. He has instilled this ethos into every one of the coaches here at GL52.

Every great story has a beginning, middle and end. The consultation is the best part of the process, we get that nervous excitement like we do when we start a book. In chapter one we will get to know one another and go over some history of health and wellbeing, discuss goals and targets you may have and come up with a plan to achieve these and more.

Every goal will have a physical element to it but alone this will not lead to success, your diet is a huge part of who you are and where all your energy balance will come from. At GL52 we don’t leave this to chance and we will work with you on a personal level to make sure you eat well and the daily eating is in line with your goals.

Training here at GL52 is both fun and informative at the same time. The clue is in the title ‘Personal Training’ we make it personal and bring an empathetic and respectful approach to your sessions. These wont fit just anyone, they will be just for you and your targets.

Being fresh and ready for your next training session is so important for muscle repair and general health and wellbeing. We will work on your sleep patterns and give guidance to improve these areas to help make sure you have everything you need to lead a healthier and successful life.
